Education does not begin and end in the classroom. At Salem State, students learn and grow through engagement across various facets of campus life—from music and sports to student government, peer tutoring and community service. Cultivating a vibrant learning community where students have abundant opportunities to develop socially, intellectually, creatively, and personally is key to our goal of providing a transformative learning experience.
Our faculty and staff have created an atmosphere that enables students to balance their academic, social, civic, and personal development. Charitable support totaling $4 million will allow us to enhance:
- Internships, co-ops and field placement opportunities
- Social, cultural and recreational programming
- Intercollegiate and intramural sports
- Student clubs and organizations
- Programmatic and capital improvements
- The Center for Diversity and Cultural Enrichment and the Center for Civic Engagement
Our community of learning unleashes the drive and creativity that ultimately shapes the future. With so many of our graduates living and working throughout the region, we are providing tomorrow’s business and civic leaders with the tools to do the job and do it well despite the challenges they face. These programs focus on the whole student, recognizing value in experiences beyond the classroom. They offer perspectives in real-world business situations, access to international exchange between cultures, challenges in the dramatic arts and on the playing fields, and offer civic opportunities to engage students with their communities.
